This policy explains how Hushbell: Balance the Bells (the "App") handles information, on iPhone and on Android. You never need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number. Your chimes, progress, lessons, streaks and settings are stored on your device.
What the App collects
The App and the service providers listed below collect the following. None of it is linked to your name or contact details.
- Play data: events such as chimes started and balanced, rings earned, hints and lessons used and Daily Chime streaks, used to tune the chimes and improve the game.
- Device and diagnostic data: device model, operating system version, language, app version, crash reports and performance data.
- Advertising identifier: on iPhone, the IDFA, only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. On Android, the Google advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your device settings. Ad partners use it to show relevant ads and measure them, and in the EEA, UK and Switzerland only for personalised ads if you consent (see below).
- Approximate location: advertising partners may infer a coarse location such as country or city from your IP address. The App never uses GPS location.
- Purchases: Apple or Google Play processes every payment. We only learn that a purchase such as "Remove Ads" happened.
Consent for personalised ads (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
After you have balanced a few chimes, and before any ad is loaded, the App asks players in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland whether our ad partners Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads may store and read information on the device, such as an advertising identifier, to show ads that suit them and measure how they perform.
- Accept and Decline are equal choices. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalised, and on iPhone the App does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- To know whether to ask, the App checks on your device the App Store country (iPhone), the SIM or mobile network country (Android), your region setting and your time zone. These checks stay on the device.
- Your choice and the time you made it are saved on the device and passed to Unity LevelPlay. Our play statistics record whether the question applied and what you chose.
- Change your choice any time in the App: Settings › Privacy choices.
Daily reminders
The App can remind you about the Daily Chime with a local notification scheduled on your device. It only asks after your first Daily Chime, and no notification content is sent to us or to any server. You can turn reminders off in the App or in your device settings.
Sharing your chime
When you share a chime, the App records a short clip of your chime playing its melody on your device and hands it, with a spoiler-free result, to the system share sheet. You choose where it goes, for example a message or your photo library; we do not receive it. On iPhone, saving to Photos asks for permission to add it. The App does not read your photos and does not use your camera, microphone or contacts.
Game Center and Google Play Games
Leaderboards and achievements use Apple Game Center on iPhone and Google Play Games on Android. If you are signed in, Apple or Google shares your player name and scores so you can appear on leaderboards. There is no online play or chat.
How we use information
- To run the game, including leaderboards, achievements and reminders.
- To understand how chimes and lessons are played and make them better.
- To diagnose crashes and performance issues.
- To show ads that keep the App free, and to measure them.
We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices
- Ad consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): in the App, Settings › Privacy choices.
- Tracking (iPhone): allow or deny it in the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and change it any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Advertising ID (Android): reset or delete it in your device settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads, depending on the device).

Keeping and deleting data
Everything stored on your device is removed when you delete the App. Play statistics and crash data are kept by our providers for a limited time, then deleted. Because this data is not tied to your identity we usually cannot find one person's records, but write to us and we will help with any access or deletion request as far as we can.
This website
The online Daily Chime and the solving guide on this website need no account and set no cookies. The website uses no advertising. To count visits it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not use local storage for tracking and does not fingerprint your browser; we only see totals such as page views, the referring site, country and device type, never who you are. Your chime in progress, solved days, streak and your sound and "Show the sums" settings are kept only in your browser's local storage, never sent to us, and you can clear them by clearing this site's data in your browser. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and changes
Data sent by the App travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and announce important changes in the App or on this page.
